Yuanchu Technology Breaks Ground on World’s First 100,000-Ton CO₂ CCUS Mineralization ProjectYuanchu Technology Breaks Ground on World’s First 100,000-Ton CO₂ CCUS Mineralization ProjectIssuing time:2026-04-02 13:04 Following a decade of independent R&D and technological innovation,Yuanchu Technology has achieved a major engineering breakthrough inlarge-scale, low-cost, permanent CO₂ mineralization andCCUS. The world’s first 100,000-ton CO₂ CCUS mineralizationindustrial project has officially commenced construction in Yinchuan, Ningxia. The company’s mineralization technology integrates pollution and carbonreduction, coupling solid waste high-value utilization with CCUS to deliverpermanent carbon sequestration—turning waste into valuable resources. Itefficiently converts CO₂ with industrialsolid wastes such as carbide slag and steel slag to produce high-end greennano- and micron-grade calcium carbonate, which can be directly used inplastics, rubber, papermaking and building materials, creating both carbonassets and strong economic returns. Backed by 91 independent patents, thetechnology holds an internationally leading position. It has passed rigorous technical reviews, process package evaluations andfeasibility assessments by Sinopec. Recently, Sinopec Nanjing Engineering,Yuanchu’s technical and engineering partner, secured the EPC contract for the100,000 tpa CO₂ mineralization and utilization demonstration project for Sinopec GreatWall Energy Chemical (Ningxia), with a contract value of nearly 500 millionyuan. Supported by proprietary CO₂ chemical loopingmineralization technology jointly developed with Sinopec, the project overcomesthe poor economic efficiency and scaling limitations of traditionalmineralization methods. It has been listed in the NDRC’s first Green andLow-Carbon Advanced Technology Demonstration Projects and the MIIT’s AdvancedApplicable Technologies Catalogue. Once completed, the project will achieve a CO₂ capture rate of over90%, becoming the world’s largest CO₂ mineralization andgreen valorization industrial demonstration base. It will generate substantialenvironmental and economic benefits, offering a cost-effective solution fordeep industrial decarbonization in China and worldwide. |
